Learn Essential Fire & Emergency Skills

This combined course set equips you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to implement an emergency response plan according to emergency procedures or directives from higher authorities in an emergency control organisation.

As a Fire Warden, it’s important to be well-versed in pre-emergency planning, know the appropriate steps to take during an emergency, and assist in post-emergency activities. The training covers handling small emergencies in a facility, ensuring you’re ready to manage situations such as:

  • Small fires that can be contained using a Fire Extinguisher.
  • A chemical spill that can be tackled with the help of personal protective clothing, equipment and a spill kit.
  • A vehicle accident where no significant injury or damage has occurred.

Our course focuses on developing your skills for first-attack firefighting during emergencies. The course offers a blended learning approach. It begins with approximately 3 hours of online training, followed by a 4-hour face-to-face assessment.

Upon successful completion and passing of both written and practical assessments, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

    • PUAFER005 – Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation
    • PUAFER008 – Confine Small Emergencies in a Facility
    • CPPFES2005 – Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment

Did the training to demonstrate the first attack firefighting equipment. The course was very knowledgeable on the subject of first response to an emergency fire. The interaction in the class was two-way, getting all students involved in the exercise. I would strongly recommend training with RTS.

Online with Face-to-Face Assessment

We have now introduced a new enhanced online course that enables students to complete the theory assessment online. This is followed by attending a practical session where our trainers will assess your skills. Depending on your experience and skills the online work will take around 4 hours to complete and the face-to-face assessment will take 90 minutes to complete.

If you have a hearing deficit please contact us and we can arrange for an alternative online theory to be completed.

  • Operate as a warden in a fire emergency (Paper/Wood)
  • Complete an Emergency evacuation incident and debrief form

To ensure you can successfully complete your practical training we ask the following:

  • Arrive 10 minutes prior to the course start time. (Please note that if you arrive late you will not be able to attend the course).
  • Wearing appropriate attire.
  • Including enclosed shoes, pants and shirt.
  • Verify your USI.
  • Achieve 100% completion of the online learning material.
  • Provide photo ID upon entry.

If the student does not meet the above requirements, the student will need to reschedule their training. Please that rebooking fees may apply.
