Certification in HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation 

Acquire life-saving skills with our CPR course, delivered by highly experienced instructors in Perth. Through a blend of flexible, self-paced online learning and a practical assessment, you’ll gain the necessary skills and knowledge to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, aligned with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.  

Be prepared to confidently perform CPR and manage emergency situations in both community and workplace settings until medical help arrives.

  • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Course Information

Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that can lead to death. With urgent medical care to restart the heart, survival is possible. 

Quick decision making is required to recognise and assess a cardiac emergency, call for medical assistance and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures which will increase the chance of survival for a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally. 

In our main CPR course, you will learn essential skills in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, including: 

  • How to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). 
  • Techniques for rotating first aiders with minimal interruptions to compressions. 
  • Procedures to follow if the casualty regurgitates or vomits. 

The course also covers conveying accurate incident details when handing the casualty over to emergency services, how to review an incident, to recognise any psychological impacts on self and other rescuers, to seek help if required and for improvement of own personal skills and response times. 

The delivery mode for this course is a combination of online learning, followed by face to face assessment. The online component takes approximately 1 hour and the face to face assessment 1 hour.

Did the training to demonstrate the first attack firefighting equipment. The course was very knowledgeable on the subject of first response to an emergency fire. The interaction in the class was two-way, getting all students involved in the exercise. I would strongly recommend training with RTS.

Course Delivery Mode and Assessment Information

Course Delivery Mode and Assessment Information

Course Delivery Mode:

Online learning followed by face to face assessment.

Online Component

This self-paced online component takes around 1 hour to complete, depending on your level of experience. It covers the theory components of the course through a series of video and online theory questions. You may choose to complete this during one or a number of sessions. You can also review the online theory after the course if you wish. We recommend that this component be completed using Google Chrome.

Please be aware that the online component must be completed prior to attending the face to assessment.

Face to Face Assessment

This part of the course will take around 1 hours to complete. During this time you will cover the following assessment areas.

Performance tasks and Practical scenarios: 

  • Perform CPR on an adult on the floor for a minimum of 2 minutes.
  • Perform CPR on an Infant for a minimum of 2 minutes.
  • Placing a casualty into the recovery position.
  • The use of an AED on an adult.

In line with ARC guidelines it is recommended that this certificate be renewed every 12 months.

To ensure you can successfully complete your practical training we ask the following:

  • Arrive 10 minutes prior to the course start time. (Please note that if you arrive late you will not be able to attend the course).
  • Wearing appropriate attire.
  • Including enclosed shoes, pants and shirt.
  • Verify your USI.
  • Achieve 100% completion of the online learning material.
  • Provide photo ID upon entry.

If the student does not meet the above requirements, they will be unable to attend the practical training.
